At Bethel, we want to partner with parents to help them disciple their children. Awana is a big piece of that.
If you’ve never been involved with Awana before, it is a ministry that provides discipleship opportunities for families and a fun and rewarding weekly experience for the children. Every Sunday night during the school year, kids from 2 yrs old to 6th grade meet from 5-7 pm. During those two hours, they’ll have delicious snacks, play incredible games, work on memorizing and learning Scripture, and hear a lesson from the Bible tailored to their development level.
Each student is able to earn a handbook and uniform. The handbook is the incredible tool that parents have been looking for to help intentionally teach their children about Jesus. At each level, students are encouraged to take their handbooks home and work through the activities with their parents. When they complete challenges in the book, students receive awards for their uniform to show their progress. This gives them the motivation to keep working and gives their parents opportunities each week to have an impact on their child’s spiritual development. The uniforms, awards, and books are all provided to each student who earns them free of charge.
We strive to make sure that every Sunday night feels like a special event in the life of each child there. However, that doesn’t prevent us from having other special events. Through Awana, we also do fun events and fellowship times. We have events like skating parties and trips to Sky Zone. We also bring in exotic animals once a year to help teach about God’s creation. We encourage our kids to build memories with their parents by hosting a pine car derby. There is always something exciting happening. We hope that you’ll join us!
